As an increasing number of people move to the cities to live, work and play, nature becomes a growing source of inspiration.
In design, this has resulted in a greater use of natural materials such as reclaimed wood, raw concrete and natural stone, with designers looking more and more to interior finishes that complement these materials.

To honour this movement, Interface has introduced a new collection called Urban Retreat.

Urban Retreat focuses on the connection between natural and man-made elements, where grass retreats into the pavement and vines intertwine on city walls.

It includes nine styles sorted into patterns that range from refined textures to broad organic forms, and in a complementary colour palette.

Urban Retreat is manufactured across four continents and is available in a consistent scheme of patterns, colours and construction around the world.
Made from 100% recycled yarn, the collection is also one of Interface’s most sustainable products to date: to make the product, Interface has partnered with one of its global yarn suppliers to come up with a nylon that is fully recycled from reclaimed carpet fibre, old fishnets and other waste plastics that would have otherwise gone to waste.
In addition, the combination of non-virgin fibre and Interface’s GlasBac®RE backing system results in a minimum of 29% post-consumer recycled content, and a total recycled content of up to 85%.
