The Singapore Architecture Festival (Archifest) is a month-long annual architectural festival that will run from 6 to 31 October this year. Organised by the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA), the festival celebrates the urban environment and the communities that make it alive.
The theme for Archifest ’12, “Rethink Singapore”, considers the city in new ways – rethinking how we inhabit this little red dot, and how we need to mould the city to make it more sustainable and livable. Archifest ’12 sports new programmes to engage a wider audience in conversations about the city.
The highlight of this year’s festival includes the creation a pavilion, courtesy of National Parks Board, at The Foothills Fort Canning Park. The pavilion officially kicks off with a launch party on 12 October. Other events include an architectural forum, Architours to various sites in Singapore and the introduction of School of Urban Ideas.
