The Architecture & Design Conference 2012 will be held on 5 June 2012 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The big question that’s up for discussion this year: What is the future of architecture and design in the urban millennium?
Many of the topics will look not just at form or function but how a design can bring cultural and financial value to a development. Past all-star speaker line-ups have included Ben Van Berkel, Sir Peter Cook and Thomas Heatherwick, as well as the Chairs and Regional CEOs of all the top architecture and design firms worldwide.
This year’s Architecture and Design Conference will be co-located with Build4Asia, a move that is expected to draw a record number of delegates.
The 4-in-1 Trade Show covers Sustainability, Architecture, Design, Building Services and Electrical Engineering. The event now comprises Asian Elenex (successful since 1984), Asian Building Technologies, Asian Architectural Interiors and in its debut year Asian Hospitality Design & Technology.
Besides discussions on technology and hotel design, the Architecture and Design Conference will explore the following: whether Asian architecture and interior design are growing with their own characteristics or whether the new mega-cities are going to be deserts of sameness; how good design really sets a project apart; and whether the cost is worth the reward.
Case studies in the hotel and retail sectors will show how functionality, jaw-dropping design and sustainability are within reach of any project. Attendees will hear about the integration of technology and the pros vs cons of high-rise developments.
As the premier architecture and design conference in the region the Architecture and Design Conference not only attracts top-tier professionals from developers, architects, designers, engineers and contractors, it also attracts significant high-level interest from government, educators, investors and community organisations. This year they will be asked to weigh in on the issue of the future of Asian architecture and design.
